Home Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is looking for testimony from the senior counsel to the Manhattan District Legal professional who beforehand labored on the Division of Justice.
In a Friday letter to Matthew Colangelo, Manhattan District Legal professional senior counsel, Jordan requested for his voluntary cooperation in relation to the committee’s investigation into the indictment of former President Donald Trump.
“Given your historical past of working for law-enforcement entities which are pursuing President Trump and the general public reporting surrounding your resolution to work for the New York County District Legal professional’s Workplace, we request your cooperation with our oversight in your private capability,” Jordan wrote within the letter.
“In keeping with information reviews, District Legal professional Alvin Bragg employed you in December 2022 to ‘jump-start’ his workplace’s investigation of President Trump, reportedly as a consequence of your ‘historical past of taking up Donald J. Jordan can be requesting that Colangelo hand over paperwork dated between June 22, 2021 and December 5, 2022 referring to any communication with the New York County District Legal professional’s Workplace discussing Trump or the Trump group.
“The circumstances and chain of occasions that led to your hiring by the New York County District Legal professional’s Workplace might due to this fact shed substantial gentle on the underlying motives for that Workplace’s investigation into and indictment of President Trump,” the letter states.

Jordan’s letter comes days after Bragg harshly criticized the committee for issuing a subpoena for a former prosecutor in his workplace.
