“Insidious: The Purple Door” got here knocking on the field workplace on its opening evening.
The supernatural horror movie raked in $15.225 million on Friday, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo.
A sequel to 2013’s “Insidious: Chapter 2,” the flick is actor Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut.
It managed to push “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” which opened final Friday and was within the No. 1 spot final weekend, to second place.
The Harrison Ford-led action-adventure captured $7.6 million in gross sales on its second Friday in theaters.
“Sound of Freedom,” which stars Jim Caviezel as a former authorities agent whose mission is to rescue kids from Colombian intercourse traffickers, landed in third, with a near $5.3 million take.
The movie, which RogerEbert.com called “a solemn, drawn-out bore,” was impressed by the work of anti-trafficking activist Tim Ballard.
Pixar’s “Elemental,” which is in third final week, fell down a notch to fourth, with receipts of $2.9 million.
In fifth place was “Spider-Man: Throughout the Spider-Verse” with simply over $2.3 million in gross sales.
